Tri-Faith Initiative focus of discussion

This year’s Rabbi Sidney H. Brooks Lecture will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Thompson Alumni Center, 6705 Dodge St., on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s lecture is titled “The Tri-Faith Initiative: Beyond Dialogue to Cooperation” and will feature three representatives of the Abrahamic faith groups — Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Rabbi Aryeh Azriel of Temple Israel, the Rt. Rev. J. Scott Barker of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska and Dr. Syed Mohiuddin of the American Institute of Islamic Studies and Culture will lead the discussion on the Tri-Faith Initiative and what it means to the Omaha community and beyond.

The Tri-Faith Initiative is a partnership among the three faiths.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

Your neighbors need help! The neighborhood patrol is a group of concerned people who have a common goal to improve the quality of life by eliminating crime. We are the extra eyes and ears for the Omaha Police.
If you would like more information, come to the Citizen Patrol meeting at the Omaha Police Union Hall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on April 12th. Food and beverage will be available.

The goals of the Citizen Patrol program are:
  • To provide an effective method of discouraging neighborhood crimes and “decline.”
  • To promote a friendly and safer neighborhood environment while respecting the privacy and rights of all citizens.
  • To encourage awareness and provide improved communication among neighbors.
  • To upgrade the quality of life and property values in the area.
Stay Safe and hope to see you there!
